Ponder: Where in creation do you feel closest to God?
Karen's Thoughts:
My immediate answer to this question was the beach, for I am a Florida girl through and through. But the more I thought and prayed about this question, the more I realized that when I feel closest to God is a little more specific than that: it is a sunrise at the beach. Just something about that moment makes me feel so connected to my Heavenly Father, filled with awe, wonder, and gratitude for the promise of a new day/a fresh start.
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. -Psalm 118:24
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. -Lamentations 3:22-23
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you. -Psalm 139: 17-18
Tom's Thoughts:
It’s very easy for me to be in awe of God’s creations. It could be the mountains in Estes Park, CO, the stars on a clear night in McIntosh, FL, a beautiful golf course on the Irish coast or the gate of a giraffe in Tanzania. I let Him know how amazing His imagination is, and I thank Him for allowing me witness it in peace. I always find peace while fishing, whether I am successful or not.
One of my favorite artists, Larry Fleet, sings the song Where I Find God. He has a verse where he gets advice to “just be still.
"That day out on the water, when the fish just wouldn't biteI put my pole down, floated around, was just so quietAnd I could hear my old man sayin' "Son, just be still'Cause you can't find peace like this in a bottle or a pill."
Psalm 46:10 - He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
